Randi’s Recommendations....

V-Tech Whiz KidThe V-Tech Whiz Kid is one of my favorite electronic learning systems! Becoming a whiz kid is a breeze with this innovative teaching system. 9 Piece Traffic Sign Set I use the Traffic signs not only as an Auto Play Center, but I use them in small group instruction or in 1:1 instruction. When in small peer groups, the group is given the set of signs. The group members take turns presenting the signs, one at a time, to other participants.
They should:
1. Show the sign. Ask "What is the sign?" and "Where is this sign in your community?"
2. Show the sign again. Ask, "What does this sign mean?"
3. Show the card. Ask "What does this picture symbol mean?"
4. Show the card. Ask "What word or words are on this card?"

Teacher as Facilitator- Same as small groups, except that the teacher asks the questions instead of the peer group members. Also, the teacher can use this time to relate each survival sign to the community (e.g. ask them times they or someone they know has used the signs.

TAG's Toddler Entertainment CenterTAG's Toddler Entertainment Center keeps it all organized with plenty of shelf space for books of many sizes and four spacious drawers that are a perfect fit for videos, DVD's, games, sensory toys and the like. This unit is a very attractive, space-spacing storage option for your child's room. Display items not included. Oversize shipping applies.

SOCIAL SEQUENCESThe 40 high quality laminated photo cards with question sequences on the back are a MUST for every classroom and home! Children understand the value of Wh questions when events are broken down into structured questions. These question sequences helps the child to answer questions in context. Each question sequence contains a "Where, Why, What, Who and When" question. "Where do you see a movie?" "In a movie theater", is just a piece of arbitrary information. Putting questions into sequence gives meaning to the questions and helps the child understand an event. You can see a movie in a movie theater, you go to the concession stand to buy snacks, you can buy popcorn, you give your ticket to the usher before you see the movie, and you sit in a chair to watch the movie. These question sequences help a child make sense of their world. This pack has question sequences about all the things a child does for entertainment. Some examples include a restaurant, the beach, the petting zoo, the circus, the aquarium, the playground, the amusement park and the movie theater.

number puzzleThis fun number puzzle is highly recommended by special education teachers and occupational therapists! It introduces the shape of numbers from 0 to 9 and provides an opportunity for the child to examine and trace the numbers at a 3-dimensional level. This puzzle combines a 3-dimensional, tactile exploration of a number with the 2-dimensional reproduction of its symbol. The giant number puzzle with brightly colored pieces are raised above the surface of the puzzle board for easy removal and fitting. The surface of each number and shape is made of a durable plastic laminate that readily accepts chalk and erases easily. Children can trace the shapes with a finger and with chalk guided by the dot pattern - over and over again!
